India’s Path to Qualification

Shows all win/loss combinations for your team’s 2 remaining matches, and how many of the 4 possible opponent results lead to qualifying, needing NRR, or going out

Points System

Every match in the Super 8s is worth 2 points for a win and 0 for a loss. Each team plays 3 matches โ€” maximum 6 points. Top 2 teams from Group 1 advance to the Semi-Finals.

Net Run Rate (NRR)

NRR is the tiebreaker when two teams finish level on points. It’s calculated cumulatively across all matches a team has played:

NRR = (Total runs scored รท Total overs faced) โˆ’ (Total runs conceded รท Total overs bowled)

A team that is bowled out before 20 overs still has the full 20 overs counted against them โ€” this is why a big defeat can be so devastating to NRR.

Chasing Scores

When chasing, a team stops the moment they reach the target. The maximum possible overshoot is 5 runs โ€” hitting a six off the very last ball when needing just one. This simulator enforces that cap.

% Chances (Simulation)

We run 10,000 scenarios where each remaining match is treated as a 50/50 coin flip. For each scenario, realistic random scores are generated, NRR is calculated for all 4 teams, and we record who finishes in the top 2. The percentage shown is how often each team qualified across those 10,000 scenarios.

Path to Qualification

The path table enumerates all 4 combinations of your team’s 2 remaining results (win or lose each match). For each combination, it checks all 4 possible opponent result combinations and tells you how many lead to: โœ“ Safe (qualify on points alone), ~ NRR (level on points โ€” NRR decides), or โœ— Out.
